After a truly lazy off-season, I had every intention of skipping Ironman 70.3 California, which in the past has been my annual tri-season kick-off. That was until the boys at Shimano offered me the opportunity to be the first triathlete to race with their highly-anticipated Di2 electronic group. Lack of fitness be damned: I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. While my race at Oceanside as a whole was a disaster, experiencing a perfect shift made it all worthwhile.
