Temperatures this year hovered around 52 degrees Fahrenheit and currents were stronger than normal. More than 2,000 professionals and age-groupers took to the water on Sunday, June 5, jumping off the San Francisco Belle ferry.

With the Brownlee Brothers, Alistair and Jonathon, of England taking 1-2 in the Men's event and Canadian Paula Findlay taking top spot for the women, The Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series event in Madrid was action-packed.

Top names such as Andy Potts, Craig Alexander and Leanda Cave took to the waters. Taking the titles for 2011 were American Andy Potts and New Zealander Nicky Samuels.

South Africa’s James Cunnama narrowly held off New Zealand’s Terenzo Bozzone to take his first win at Rev3 Quassy. In the women’s race, Great Britain’s Julie Dibens turned in a solid all-around effort to hold off two-time defending champion Mirinda Carfrae of Australia to earn the victory.

Taking the title this year for the women was Canadian Paula Findlay with her fourth win, equaling Emma Moffatt's record of Dextro Energy Triathlon Series race wins.

Australia’s new iron-distance event has a stunning coastal course and endless adventure options

Ironman Brazil 2012 opens for general registration on June 6th just after midnight Brazilian time (11:01 PM June 5th Eastern Standard Time in the US). We expect the race to sell out the day it opens.

The prize money was double for the pros this year—from $25,000 to $50,000—and there were 50 qualifying spots for Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both Eneko Llanos and Catriona Morrison's strong run secured their titles. Tim O'Donnell had a very strong first Iron distance event crossing the line less than two minutes behind Llanos.

Held on one of the seven Canary Islands belonging to Spain, the 20th Ironman Lanzarote takes place this weekend

The racing was heavy again this past weekend. Mother Nature threw in some technical difficulties to keep things interesting, but the racing went off regardless.

Andy Potts and Caitlin Snow proved their race-favorite status after both winning Ironman Florida 70.3 on Sunday, May 15.

Another weekend passed with outstanding fields racing worldwide

Even a 15-second penalty wasn't enough to stall McQuaid in her unstoppable march to victory.
