The yearly broadcast of the Ironman World Championship on NBC has proven to be a life-changing experience for many viewers. Many athletes cite the show as the reason they started competing in triathlons in the first place.

The 2010 broadcast is set to air on Saturday, Dec. 18 4 – 6 PM EST (check your local listings) and will feature winners Chris McCormack and Mirinda Carfrae. As it does every year, the show will also feature a few special interest athletes. This year’s featured age groupers include Kathleen Allen, Lew Hollander, Kyle Garlett and Clayton Treska.
