The Ironman 70.3 Oceanside Course

The Ironman 70.3 Oceanside course is all about the SoCal vibe, from the single-loop swim in the Oceanside harbor to a bike course that winds through the hills between Oceanside and San Clemente (including a jaunt through Camp Pendleton, an active military base). The two-loop run course is flat, fast, and lined with spectators, making for an exciting finish to an exciting race.

Who (and how) to follow at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside

In addition to the 70.3 Oceanside livestream on Outside TV, live tracking for the pro and age-group races will be available through the Ironman Tracker app for iOS and Android. Who will you be following? With a super-stacked 70.3 Oceanside start list competing for a $50,000 prize purse and points toward the year-end Ironman Pro Series bonus (a total of $1.7 million up for grabs!), there’s no shortage of triathlon stars to cheer for on April 5. A few highlights from the 100-plus pros on the Oceanside start list:

  • Reigning 70.3 Oceanside champ Lionel Sanders (CAN) will attempt to add a fourth Oceanside title to his 2016, 2017, and 2024 wins in the men’s race.
  • But to do it, he’ll have to hold off a lot of triathlon firepower from two-time 70.3 Oceanside champion Ben Kanute (USA) along with fellow Americans Rudy von Berg, Chris Leiferman, and Trevor Foley.
  • Also on the start list: past Ironman World Champions Patrick Lange, Kristian Blummenfelt, and Gustav Iden.
  • Paula Findlay (CAN), who has never finished lower than sixth in Oceanside, won the race in 2021 and hopes to do it again. Another past winner joins her on the start list: Tamara Jewett (CAN) who won the race in 2023.
  • Jackie Hering (USA), who took second overall in the 2024 Ironman Pro Series, will look to start her points grab early in Oceanside, along with fellow Americans Alice Alberts and Danielle Lewis.
