Swimsuit Shoot Under Way In Mexico

It’s day 3 of the four-day 2012 swimsuit photo shoot in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico, hosted by the Sandos Caracol Eco-Resort and Spa just outside Playa del Carmen. So far, shooting conditions have been less than ideal, with rain every day. However, the team has been creative in making the most of the rain, and the triathlete-models are enjoying the week.
“This has been a blast so far. Despite the rain, it’s been really good,” said Tara Martine, an age grouper from Greensboro, N.C., who was asked to be part of the shoot through the Triathlete.com Swimsuit Contest.
Despite never modeling before, she’s had fun at the resort and enjoyed the chance to model. “I’ve never done anything like this before, so it’s all been new,” Martine said. “But everyone here has been really helpful in making it easier and more comfortable to be in front of the camera for the first time. Damien [Noble Andrews], the photographer, has been awesome.”

So far, all the shoots have taken place on the five-star resort property, which is situated on a white-sand beach on an extensive natural area at the edge of the jungle, surrounded by cenotes (natural sinkholes), mangrove forests and natural lagoons. “The resort is amazing,” said Martine. “I can’t believe everything it has to offer. I mean, you could spend weeks here exploring it all.”
San Diego-based age grouper Nike Matanza has also enjoyed her time during the swimsuit shoot, even though she has done some modeling in her native Slovenia. “I wish we had more sun, but I think it’s amazing,” she said. “I’m still in a little bubble—I can’t believe I’m actually here and doing this. It’s a great honor to be here and be in this magazine.”
The other two triathlete swimsuit models are Boulder, Colo.-based pro Kristen Peterson and Colorado Springs-based Xterra pro Branden Rakita.
Tomorrow, the team will head to Xel-Há, a natural aquarium park in Cancun.
