Olympic champion Emma Snowsill, due to her recovery from recent hip surgery, was forced to pull out of the ITU World Triathlon Championships on Sept. 13 on the Gold Coast.

Snowsill, also a three-time world champion, underwent arthroscopic surgery in late July to fix a labral tear and cartilage damage after the injury forced her to quit this year’s series.

“I am really disappointed that having the opportunity to compete at home in front of family and friends is not going to happen,” Snowsill said in a statement Thursday.
