Courtney Atkinson wants to prove he is a genuine contender for the ITU World Championship Series after ending 2010 a long way from his best.

With the London Olympics in the pipeline next year for the world’s top triathletes, Atkinson was refusing to be drawn into talk of the Games as he maintains his focus on his main battle — proving to himself he can mix it with anyone.

“It’s funny because I wouldn’t say the Olympics are at the forefront of my mind,” Atkinson said. “But at the same time you can’t help but look at the bigger picture. The main goal is to stay in the mix and keep proving to myself that I can stay at the top.”
