Former 70.3 world champion (2007) and three-time Ironman world champion (2010, 2013, 2014) Mirinda Carfrae knows a thing or two about the men’s pro field at this weekend’s Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast. In addition to her deep knowledge as a professional triathlete, which she now puts on display as a commentator during Ironman and 70.3 broadcasts on Outside Watch, Carfrae is famously married to one of the top picks for the race: Tim O’Donnell, who recently took the win at 70.3 Peru.
Ahead of this weekend’s race in Florida, Carfrae and former pro Patrick Mckeon chat about the stacked field, which includes O’Donnell, recently-crowned 70.3 North American champ Sam Long, Lionel Sanders, Jackson Laundry, and Trevor Foley. Carfrae and Mckeon break down the weather conditions, the course features, the way the race will likely play out, and reveal their favorites to take the tape.
The Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast livestream will be free to watch live on Outside Watch starting at 6:30am ET on Saturday morning (5/3), and Outside+ members can view the race on demand after the finish anytime, on any device. In the Outside TV app, click “Live TV” to watch during the race.
