Up-and-coming American professional triathlete Lukas Verzbicas suffered a serious crash on his bike while riding in Colorado Springs, Colo., on July 31.

Verzbicas suffered several injuries, including a broken thorax, two broken vertebrae, a broken clavicle and a partially collapsed lung. In the past two weeks, Verzbicas has undergone several surgeries and has had two rods put into his back to stabilize his spine and screws in his clavicle. The impact of his injuries have also caused Verzbicas to lose a significant amount of weight.

The 19-year-old has several weeks of rehab ahead of him and will need to re-learn basic skills, like how to walk. The video above was taken during a therapy session on Aug. 15 and shows his first attempt to walk since the crash.
