Mavic will not be taking the CC80 into full production.

The respected French maker of road cycling wheels unveiled the CC80s, an 80mm deep aero wheel, under its sponsored pro cycling teams last summer and was hoping to release the wheel for consumers in 2011. After struggling with production issues, Mavic has decided to remove them from the 2011 product line.
Mavic Communications Manager Zack Vestal says, “Mavic’s quality and performance standards are not being met. In continuing to refine the wheels for production scale manufacturing, we’re not at the level of quality and performance that we’re hoping to get. If the wheel is not going to be up to the Mavic standard, we don’t want to rush it out there. It’s still in development. The wheel is far from discontinued. You’re going to see the wheel under professional riders in 2011 but we can’t promise a reliable timeline for our dealers.” Mavic still hopes to produce the CC80 for sale in 2012.
