Ironman St. George Could Bring $10 Million To Town

Five months in advance, local businesses are already gearing up for the Ironman Triathlon, an event officials say could bring $8-10 million to the community.

The triathlon, scheduled for May 1, sold out just three months after it was announced, and more than 5,000 hotel room nights have already been booked. Organizers anticipate more than 10,000 visitors making an extended stay for the event, with more than 30,000 spectators showing up on race day, said Kevin Lewis, sports, events and adventure director with the St. George Convention & Tourism office.
