One-Hour Workout: Form-Focused Run Session

The focus of this running workout is re-emphasizing good form throughout the session.

Every Tuesday we’ll feature a different coach’s workout you can complete in 60 mins (or less!).

This week’s run workout comes from USAT Level I coach Jessica Dollar of Nashville-based FTP Coaching (Ftpcoaching.com). “The focus here is re-emphasizing good form throughout the workout,” Dollar says.

Form-Focused Run Session

2 miles at an easy pace
5×30 seconds strides with 30-second recoveries
2 miles at a moderate effort (half marathon pace)
5×30 seconds strides with 30-second recoveries
2 miles at an easy pace
5×30 seconds strides with 30-second recoveries

Strides should be performed at a pace equal or slightly harder than 5K pace. Focus on how your form changes when you speed up during the strides, and try to mimic that better form during the two-mile sections.
