Every triathlete would love to own a fleet of carbon race wheels to tackle all conceivable course profiles, but the cost of building such a quiver makes that dream unattainable for the vast majority of racers. A new wheel system from Catalyst aims to make that dream a reality with their unique Arsenal collection.
The Arsenal comes with a set of traditional 26mm deep aluminum wheels along with 60mm and 90mm carbon shells that magnetically snap onto the rim. The system also includes a full disc cover for the rear wheel. Most inexpensive carbon race wheels already use similar designs with carbon shells bonded to an aluminum rim, so it makes sense to provide versatility by allowing the shells to be swapped depending on the conditions.
Catalyst has a campaign running on Indiegogo where you can purchase the Arsenal wheel system for $1,599 to $1,799 depending on how early you order, with delivery scheduled for September. You can also order the shells individually if you don’t want to buy the entire system. MSRP is listed as $1,999.
