The Jenson Button Trust today announced the details of its 2014 triathlon, set for Saturday, July 12. The event will be held on the private estate grounds of the Luton Hoo in Bedfordshire, located in the East of England region of the United Kingdom. The third running of the event will give all competitors the opportunity to compete twice. First, all will race in a preliminary heat consisting of a 300m lake swim, a 9km bike ride and a 2.5km run. Then, the top performers will move on to the final, made up of a 750m swim, a 15km bike ride and a 5km run, while the remaining participants will compete in the “wooden spoon” race. The event will support the Cancer Research UK organization.

Button, a famous Formula 1 race car driver, competes in several triathlons during his time away from his full-time career.

“Having Cancer Research UK as our new charity partner is fantastic, it will ensure that the 2014 Triathlon is the biggest and best yet,” Button said in a press release. “The research work carried out by Cancer Research UK into the prevention and treatment of cancer is of such importance. I am very proud that the Jenson Button Trust will do its bit to raise as much money and awareness as possible.”
