The tiny island with a population of 60,000 people has welcomed some of the biggest names in the sport over the last 30 years.

The change in ownership will mean that the organization will operate six of the nine events in the World Triathlon Series.

The 2014 triathlon season is heating up and the World Triathlon Series will kick off in in Auckland, New Zealand next weekend (April 5-6).

The World Triathlon Series will return to the United States next year with a stop in Chicago, Ill. on June 28-29.

Gwen Jorgensen outran the competition to earn the victory at Yokohama, the third of eight races on the World Triathlon Series circuit.
