Several members of Team Trakkers have traveled to Costa Rica and are preparing for Sunday’s Rev3 Costa Rica Triathlon. Prior to taking on the tropical course, the professionals shelled out advice on how to stay hydrated in hot and humid race conditions.

trakkerspanelMichael Lovato: “Don’t take gels and nutrition before a hill. It is harder to digest. On descents, your heart rate drops and you can handle the nutrition.”

Chris McDonald: “Keep up on top of your nutrition. You’ll be surprised how much fluid you lose on the swim. Don’t pass an aid station either.”

Bree Wee: “Watch electrolytes. Use salt caps or add salt into your water.”

Matt Sheeks: “With Olympic distance and above, carry two water bottles on your bike.”

Brian Fleischmann: “Water doesn’t do it alone. Think about electrolytes, potassium.”
