Newton Running has unveiled a new special makeup of its Aha shoe for Ironman Texas on May 14, an event that is serving as the North American Championships. Inspired by the Texas state flag, the special edition Aha Texas 2016 ($125) features bold blocks of red, white and blue color and the symbolic Lone Star. The neutral-oriented shoe features Newton’s five-lug Action/Reaction propulsion technology. It has a 6mm heel-toe offset and weighs 9.0 oz. for a men’s size 9.0 and 7.4 oz. for a women’s size 7.0. The shoe will be sold exclusively at the Ironman Texas race expo in The Woodlands beginning on May 11 and on NewtonRunning.com later this summer.

The Aha Texas comes on the heels of the successful Newton Fate 2 Boston ($150) that it sold at the Boston Marathon expo in April and might be a hint of more to come from Newton.

“We are confident our passionate fan base will love the look of the Newton Running Texas 2016 special edition shoe whether they are racing Ironman Texas or are a Texas native,” Erin Kersten, director of marketing at Newton Running, said in a release. “Newton will continue to develop a series of creative special edition shoes as more and more consumers look for commemorative items to celebrate their race achievement or further connect them to their favorite performance and lifestyle brands.”
