The Draw: Long-Course All-Day Slayer

Ventum’s mid-range Z is a total long-course bike. While it’s not the snappiest out of the saddle (see the lack of a downtube), this is not what the Z is made for. Featuring a balanced, smooth ride and some of the best straight- line handling we tested, this is a bike that’s made to be sat upon for hours on end and simply grind away at the miles. On downhills, even with severe crosswinds, the Z was predictable and confidence-inspiring, and despite the less than lightning-quick acceleration, the bike tracked and cornered surprisingly well. Decent spec rounded out a ride that easily absorbed all kinds of road chatter and signaled the Z as an ideal Kona rig for under $6k.
