Specialized literally rewrote the rulebook when creating its new Roval 321 disc wheel—using a special kind of (very expensive) carbon layup in a unique way that favors real-world conditions and riders
over pure numbers. The result is a disc wheel that actually feels notably more comfortable and lively than others in the category. Because Specialized utilized wind-tunnel testing alongside actual athlete feedback, the Roval 321 doesn’t beat up the rider as badly as most discs, making it tailor-made for those who still have to run off the bike. The fact that the wheel actually flexes slightly in the dropouts—alongside a surprisingly light weight—means that the Roval 321 also performs very well when attacking over small risers to maintain momentum. Ignoring the high price tag, this is an ideal tri wheel.
