Pro Bike: Magali Tisseyre’s Blue Triad SL

In 2008 Magali Tisseyre was a student working on a master’s degree in biomechanics and an aspiring triathlete. In 2009, she made the enormous leap from relative unknown to top-tier professional and her impressive race results—along with her bubbly personality—have quickly earned her a legion of fans. She just won Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs and is sticking to the 70.3 distance this year with an eye towards her first Ironman in 2011.
She is trying to replicate her breakout season aboard a Blue Triad SL, outfitted with mechanical Shimano Dura-Ace and other Shimano-associate goodies. This is how her bike looked at the Avia Wildflower Triathlon earlier this summer. Despite her slight build, she raced Wildflower aboard ultra-deep wheels. Her rear was a Pro Disc that is covered in a shimmering carbon weave pattern that wraps around the hub. Her front wheel was a Shimano Dura-Ace C75 and both were wrapped with Schwalbe Durano tubular tires. She will soon be riding a new Triad SL featuring a one-of-a-kind custom paint job that will take her through the end of the season.
Instead of traditionally arranging her aerobars, Tisseyre rotates the S-bend extension on her Pro Missle bars in toward each other. This unusual setup allows Magali to comfortably wrap her hands around the side of the bars for extra leverage when she needs it without straining her wrists the rest of the ride. She relies only on a FuelBelt Aero Fuelbox and a jumbo water bottle for nutrition between aid stations.
