The Cosmics are not only the lightest of the shoes tested, they are also the narrowest fitting. Webbing on the top of the foot provides some additional give, but for wide-footed Fred Flintstone there may be more comfortable shoes available. The rear of this shoe stands out with a series of what could be best described as little pillows that surround the heel, providing excellent comfort and a secure fit. The single, large Velcro strap provides sufficient security as it is wide enough to hold the foot in place directly over the arch. The strap closes inward—as opposed to the customary outward closure—which keeps it away from the chainring for safer transitions, but it can take a little getting used to. A note of caution for those who slam their cleats back: This shoe provides less fore/aft adjustment than one may normally find on road shoes.
