Jan Frodeno collaborated with Canyon to create the new Speedmax CF SLX, which he will race for the first time at the Ironman World Championship on Saturday. Frodeno, who is looking to improve upon his third place from 2014, used the prototype of the bike to win both the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship this year, and through wind tunnel testing and dialing in every detail, Frodeno helped create the final version with engineers and designers.

“The team at Canyon and I looked at developing a new bike, and I think I was able to bring some ideas about hydration and nutrition and making it a triathlon-specific bike,” Frodeno says. “I think we’ve created something that will be really fast but also really practical for Ironman racing.”

The bike will be available to consumers in December 2015.
