Wider, lighter and tubeless ready. Those are the main upgrades to Bontrager’s new collection of Aeolus race wheels. With four rim depths available ranging from 30mm to 90mm and two disc-compatible models, every cyclist should be covered for every possible course profile. Aeolus wheels are now 2mm wider with an internal width of 19.5mm between the bead hooks to increase rider comfort and control. The wheels retain their D3 shape, which aims to reduce drag at the front, tire-leading side and the rear, rim-leading side. Despite the extra width, each model is lighter, shaving up to 110 grams off the previous set.

The tubeless-ready Aeolus 7 (70mm rim depth) and 9 (90mm rim depth) models are of most interest to triathletes with the decreased rolling resistance and smother ride offered by a tubeless setup compared to traditional clinchers. The Aeolus 5 has the most versatile rim profile at 50mm and will be available as a tubeless-ready clincher, disc-compatible clincher, disc-compatible tubular and rim brake tubular.

There are no rider weight limits on any model and all wheels come with a Shimano/SRAM 10/11-speed compatible freehub body with a Campagnolo freehub sold separately. Bontrager Aeolus wheels are designed, tested and handmade in Waterloo, Wisc.
