Our go-to app for logging rides and runs just got a little smarter and a lot more social. In addition to Strava’s already cool features—tracking and analyzing workouts, comparing your efforts to your own and other athletes, inspiring your training with fun fitness challenges—these are some of our favorite updates that came with Strava 4.0.

1. It seamlessly integrates cycling and running into one app instead of two separate ones, and if you accidentally select the wrong sport you can change it afterward.

2. You can consider it a true social network, with an updated Activity Feed that shows group workouts and details about your friend’s training days with the ability to comment with one tap. It also links up to your Instagram account to share photos from workouts.

3. In addition to noting which bike you rode, it allows you to track the running shoes you wear for an easy answer to the “is it time to replace my shoes yet?” question.

4. If you geek out on the competitive side, you can get real-time audio announcements on segments you star, including elapsed time at the halfway mark (for Premium Members only).
