Stein, Pedersen Claim 70.3 European Championships

Germany’s Boris Stein and Denmark’s Camilla Pedersen earned the wins at Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 European Championships in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Stein got the win thanks in large part to a dominant performance on the bike. His day was made up of a 27:19 swim, a 2:15:51 bike (the best of the day), and a 1:16:51 run, putting him across the finish line at 4:03:08. Germany’s Andreas Raelert was solid across swim, bike and run, giving him the runner-up spot at 4:05:03. Former Olympian Ruedi Wild (SUI) was third at 4:07:30.

Pedersen put together a 27:36 swim, a 2:40:31 bike and a 1:24:10 half-marathon, giving her the victory in 4:36:04. Germany’s Anja Baranek posted the fastest bike split of the women (2:39:48) on her way to finishing second at 4:40:29. Belgium’s Alexandra Tondeur rounded out the podium at 4:43:14.
