Sarah Haskins Withdraws From 70.3 St. George

Despite a stellar start to her 2014 season, including a victory at Sunday’s St. Anthony’s Triathlon, American short-course star Sarah Haskins has announced that she is withdrawing her entry to this Saturday’s Ironman 70.3 St. George triathlon, which also serves as the 70.3 U.S. Championships.
“My original plan was to race my first 70.3 at St. George and earn Hy-Vee points,” Haskins wrote in her St. Anthony’s Triathlon race report. “However, with my calf not being at 100% we have made the decision to wait and try my first 70.3 when I am ready. With the 70.3 just five days away, I would not have much recovery post St. Anthony’s. My season is going better than expected thus far and I want to continue to make smart decisions for my ultimate goals this season, which are to race the Lifetime/Toyota Series and Hy-Vee Triathlon.”
Haskins has won the first four races of 2014 after taking all of 2013 to give birth to her daughter, Caroline. The next event on Haskins’ schedule is the Capital of Texas Triathlon in Austin, Texas on May 26, which is part of the Life Time Tri Series.
