Revolution3 is expanding its 2014 race line-up, adding Morgantown Rev3 the weekend of Aug. 1-3. The events will take place in Morgantown, a quaint town in the countryside hills of West Virgina.

“We are excited to have this multi-day event come to Morgantown,” said Dave Plevich, the Executive Director of the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau, in a press release. “The three-day components provide something for all ages to participate in by utilizing the assets along our rail to trails and river area. We are looking forward to working with Revolution 3.”

The weekend will feature multiple events, including a Friday evening 5K Glow run on the Caperton Trail system, a USARA-sanctioned national championship qualifying sprint adventure race and a family adventure race on Saturday. Sunday’s highlights will be an Olympic-distance triathlon as well as a Half Rev. The Half Rev will offer a professional race with prize money available for all professionals.

The triathlons will feature a rectangular swim in the Monongahela River starting and finishing near the Morgantown Marina. The scenic bike course willbe one loop for Olympic distance and two loops for the half-Rev distance. The course follows along the Caperton Trail for the first couple of miles and quickly heads out into the quaint country side of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. A challenging and fair course, the bike features long rolling hills and a very rural route. The run showcases a one loop for the Olympic distance and two loops for the Half Rev on the shaded and flat Caperton trail, alongside the Monongahela river. In a unique twist, the finish line will be located inside the host hotel, Waterfront Place Hotel.

“We are really excited for the athletes to see this course! It combines everything we love into one route,” said Charlie Patten, Rev3 founder, in the press release. “Challenging climbs, scenery that will keep you engaged and some flats to give you a break. Add some shade, and a run along the river and you have a recipe for success!”
