Pros will compete for their share of $25,000 this Sunday at the TriRock Philadelphia Triathlon, with title sponsor Johnson & Johnson and presenting sponsor Philadelphia Insurance Companies, as part of the PHLY Cup.

A trio of Americans highlights the men’s pro start list for the PHLY Cup. Cameron Dye specializes in non-drafting Olympic-distance races like the one that will take place on Sunday. He is the defending champion in Philadelphia and will try to get away on the bike to take the win in this year’s PHLY Cup. His toughest competition will come from former Olympian, 70.3 world champion and Kona top-10 finisher Andy Potts. Potts will likely exit the water just ahead of Dye and is capable of outrunning Dye on the 10K. Also adding to the excitement is former Olympian Matt Reed. He has yet to record a win this year and will be looking for a big payday and the title this weekend.

The women’s field features a deeper list of names. With 2012 winner Sarah Haskins (USA) expecting a baby sometime next month, the women’s title is up for grabs. As one of the best swimmers in the sport, American Sara McLarty will undoubtedly lead the women out of the 1.5K swim in the Schuylkill River. From there, it will be two of the fastest cyclists in the sport, American Alicia Kaye and Canadian Angela Naeth, chasing her down. Kaye has the all-around speed across swim, bike and run and will be the favorite to lead into T2 and carry it to the finish line. In addition to McLarty and Naeth, Jenna Parker (USA), Rebeccah Wassner (USA) and Laurel Wassner (USA) could challenge Kaye and are worthy of podium-contention. This will be Rebecah Wassner’s first race back since giving birth to a daughter at the end of last year. She knows what it takes to earn the win in Philly thanks to her 2011 victory.

The ninth annual event features three days of activities including an expo on Friday, a sprint-distance event on Saturday and the Olympic-distance race on Sunday.
