The pre-race hype around the 2014 Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in Melbourne was high, and the race did not disappoint. Luxembourg’s Dirk Bockel stayed in the mix on the swim and bike before outrunning a tough field. In the women’s race, Switzerland’s Caroline Steffen broke away on the bike and turned in a solid marathon to claim her second win at this event. Recap the race.
