TeamTbb’s Ritchie Nicholls and Mary Beth Ellis earned the victories at today’s Alpe d’Huez Triathlon.
The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon is one of the most unique races in the world. The Wednesday event features both short- and long-distance events, with most professionals choosing to race in the longer version. The race is a popular stop for Brett Sutton’s TeamTbb, making for competitive fields at the tough event. The long-distance race features a 2.2km swim in Lac du Verney, a 115km bike ride up the climb that was made famous in the Tour de France and a 22km run that takes place at the Alpe d’ Huez Ski Resort.
Nicholls claimed the 5:40:01 victory with a 26:57 swim, a 3:54:25 bike and a 1:16:26 run. France’s Herve Faure finished second, with TeanTbb’s Todd Skipworth rounding out the top three.
Ellis earned her 6:20:00 win with a swim of 29:05, a bike of 4:21:19 and a run of 1:26:47. Two more TeamTbb athletes, Eimer Mullen and Anne Basso, claimed the other two podium spots.
