“My wife is saying I’m having a mid-life crisis,” Macca said on the show. “I came out of Kona and I was elated. We came home and had some good downtime as a family. I did a couple of interviews at home and I was talking about the federation and as I always do, I put my foot in my mouth a couple of times. I got a phone call from the federation and they asked if they could have a meeting with me. We sat down really to clear the ice and for them to say ‘Hey, congratulations on Kona.’ We got into Olympic talk. I said ‘look, I’d love to have a crack, but I wouldn’t even know how to do it.’ They said the door is slightly open. If you want to have a crack, you definitely can. I came home and talked to my wife and thought why not. This will be the last opportunity in my career to have a crack at it.”
