Reigning Ironman world champion Sebastian Kienle (GER) and Camilla Pedersen (DEN) came out on top at today’s Ironman 70.3 Kraichgau in Germany.
Kienle, who had to sit on the sidelines at last month’s Ironman 70.3 North American Championships in St. George due to an illness, showed the form that gave him three world championships. His day consisted of a 24:27 swim, a dominant 2:08:44 bike and a 1:15:25 half marathon, giving him the victory in 3:51:56. Germany’s Andy Bocherer chased Kienle all day, finishing second in 3:58:05. Great Britain’s David McNamee had the fastest half marathon of the day at 1:14:00 to finish in third at 4:00:24.
Pedersen put together a 27:29 swim, a 2:30:19 bike and a 1:24:18 half-marathon to get the 4:24:56 victory. Julia Gajer (GER) spent the majority of her day within a couple of minutes of Pedersen and ultimately finished second in 4:27:15. Svenja Bazlen (GER) had the fastest run of the women to finish third at 4:29:14.
