Jonathan Brownlee has been hailed as the future of triathlon — by the reigning Olympic champion.

Jan Frodeno, a surprise winner in Beijing in 2008, picked out the younger Brownlee brother ahead of gold-medal favorite Alistair as the athlete who could really dominate in London 2012.

The 29-year-old German said: “The entire British squad is immensely strong – Tim Don, Alistair Brownlee and, of course, Jonathan Brownlee, for whom I have a lot of respect. He could be the future of our sport.”

Brownlee junior, 20, is the reigning World Under-23 and Sprint triathlon champion.
