Men’s Race
American Tommy Zafares led the men out of the water in a time of 16:39, gaining an advantage over Dye (17:15), Maloy (17:16), American Davide Giardini (17:18), Spain’s Javier Gomez (17:19), the United States’ Eric Lagerstrom (17:20), Collins (17:22), the United States’ Hunter Kemper (17:23), the United States’ Barrett Brandon (17:24) and the United States’ Matthew Wisthoff (17:26). Ultimately it was Maloy’s race-best 31:01 10K that gave him the victory against the stellar field in 1:45:48. Kemper had the second-fastest run split (31:26) to finish second, with Dye using a 33:38 run to hang on for third at 1:46:18 and earn the overall Life Time Tri Series victory. Collins’ fourth-place finish meant that he narrowly missed out on the overall series title, but he did grab the $50,000 Toyota Triple Crown bonus.
Women’s Race

Kaye and Haskins both turned in their signature strong bike rides, with Kaye finding the front of the race thanks to a 59:34 bike split. She backed that up with a strong 37:26 10K to earn the Oceanside win at 1:56:51 and repeat as Life Time Tri Series champion. Findlay turned in the best run split for the women in 35:54 to finish second at 1:57:58. Haskins, who has spent much of her 2014 season dealing with injury, rounded out the top three.
