As we’ve seen at past Ironman and 70.3 world championship races, the 70.3 St. George course is as beautiful as it is brutal, making the race on May 10, 2025 – the sixth in the 2025 Ironman Pro Series – a must-watch. Nearly 100 pro triathletes will duke it out in the desert for a $75,000 prize purse, qualifying slots to the 70.3 world championship, and up to 2,500 points toward the year-end $1.7-million Ironman Pro Series bonus purse. Who (and how) to follow at Ironman 70.3 St. George 2025
St. George will be the fourth 70.3 in the Ironman Pro Series, but it’s a much different course – and much different race – than the others. With a notoriously tough swim, steep inclines on the bike course (including the infamous Snow Canyon), and a hot, rolling run, we’ll likely see some spacing in the field – but remember, the name of the game for the Ironman Pro Series is “every second matters,” with points deducted for every second an athlete finishes behind the race winner.
A few highlights from the Ironman 70.3 St. George start list include:
- 2024 Ironman 70.3 St. George champion Paula Findlay (CAN) is coming off a win at 70.3 Oceanside, though she’s also balancing the demands of being a T100 contracted athlete for 2025.
- After a disappointing DNS at Ironman Texas due to illness, Chelsea Sodaro (USA) will put what she called training that “went really well” and a “fun build” to the test in Utah.
- Two-time defending men’s 70.3 St. George champion Sam Long (USA) will have to fight off the likes of Lionel Sanders (CAN) coming off his win at 70.3 Oceasnide and Magnus Ditlev (DNK) who started his season with a win at Ironman South Africa to keep his spot on the top of the men’s podium.
In addition to the Ironman St. George livestream on Outside Watch, live tracking for the pro and age-group races will be available through the Ironman Tracker app for iOS and Android.
