Belgium’s Bart Aernouts amazing runner-up Ironman World Championship performance has been a bit overshadowed by Patrick Lange’s victory, but it’s worth acknowledging that Aernouts also shattered the previous course record. He put together a 54:07, swim, 4:12:26 bike, and a 2:45:42 marathon to finish in 7:56:41.
