The always star-packed Ironman European Championship triathlon is set to take place in Frankfurt, Germany this Sunday, July 4.

Germany’s Timo Bracht and Sandra Wallenhorst will have to overcome tough competition if they are going to retain their titles from 2009.
Bracht will face off against veterans who all have an Ironman title to their names. These contenders include Australia’s Chris McCormack, Germany’s Andreas Raelert, New Caledonia’s Patrick Vernay and New Zealand’s Cameron Brown.
For Wallenhorst, her biggest challenger will likely be last year’s runner-up, Yvonne Van Vlerken of the Netherlands. Other top contenders include Germany’s Nicole Leder and New Zealand’s Joanna Lawn.
