Denmark’s Rasmus Henning and Great Britain’s Chrissie Wellington showed that they are on track with their Kona preparations by leading from start to finish at today’s Ironman 70.3 Timberman triathlon in Gilford, N.H. The victory is Wellington’s fourth straight at this event.
Henning kicked off the day with a 23:54 swim. He followed that with a 2:07:11 bike split and a 1:20:17 half marathon to easily earn the 3:53:41 victory. American Mike Caiazzo overcame a slow swim with a strong bike and run to earn second. Germany’s Stephan Vuckovic turned in a well-rounded day to earn third.
American Caitlin Snow looked like she could give Wellington a challenge for the title, exiting the swim with the three-time world champion. Wellington built a gap of nearly six minutes on the bike over Snow, and then went on to post the fastest pro run of the day, male or female, to earn her fourth win at Timberman. Snow also had a strong run, but had to settle for second. Canada’s Annie Gervais earned third.
