Escape From Alcatraz Announces Pro Lineup
Reigning Ironman world champion Mirinda Carfrae and two-time Olympic medalist Bevan Docherty highlight the start list.

IMG Worldwide today announced the elite field that will take on Escape from Alcatraz on Sunday, June 1. Nearly 30 of the world’s top professional triathletes are set to race in San Francisco including reigning Ironman world champion Mirinda Carfrae, two-time Olympic medalist Bevan Docherty, five-time Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon Champion Andy Potts, four-time Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon Champion Leanda Cave, Olympian Greg Bennett, 2013 Escape from Alcatraz Champion Heather Jackson, Olympian Matt Reed and many more.
“We have a highly competitive field including an Ironman World Champion, several Olympians and previous Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon Champions that will make for a thrilling finish,” said IMG Senior Vice President James Leitz. “This year, sports fans will enjoy an up-close look at the race when the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon returns to broadcast television on CBS Sports Network. This special program will feature exclusive race footage, behind-the-scenes interviews with pros and more when it airs on June 22.”
More than 2,000 race participants from more than 40 countries will take over the streets and waters of San Francisco for this classic triathlon. Showcasing the beauty of San Francisco, triathletes will embark on a 1.5-mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the shoreline of Marina Green, an 18-mile hilly bike ride through Golden Gate Park and an eight-mile trail run out to Baker Beach and up the infamous Sand Ladder.
