The United States’ Ben Collins and Chile’s Barbara Riveros claimed the first 70.3 victories of 2016 in the scenic town of Pucón.
Collins spent the majority of the race out front, turning in a 24:33 swim, a 2:08:13 bike and a 1:20:17 half-marathon to take the victory in 3:59:02. Brazil’s Guilherme Manocchio posted by far the fastest run of the day (1:17:52) to finish in second at 4:03:26. Chile’s own Felipe Barraza rounded out the podium just over a minute later.
Riveros defended her 2015 title thanks to a 28:21 swim, a 2:32:36 bike and a 1:29:55 half-marathon. She crossed the finish line in first at 4:37:02.
