As the only remaining race on the Life Time Tri circuit with a prize purse, the iconic Panasonic New York City Triathlon welcomed a competitive professional field for the Olympic-distance event. With the $24,000 prize purse being divided up among only the top three male and female finishers, placing on the podium was key on Sunday. Ultimately it was Ben Collins (USA) and Alicia Kaye (USA) who defended their titles and took home the top prizes.

Collins put together a 12:01 swim, a 56:12 bike and a 33:07 run to claim the 1:44:59 victory. American Cameron Dye was close to Collins all day and ultimately finished second at 1:45:30. American Jesse Thomas—a 70.3 specialist—ran his way to third at 1:47:34.

Kaye was dominant in the women’s race, combining a 13:44 swim, a 1:03:34 bike and a 36:51 run to get the 1:58:25 win. Fellow American Lauren Goss was second at 2:01:09, with Australia’s Felicity Sheedy-Ryan posting the fastest run of the women to claim third.
