Australia’s Sam Appleton and Felicity Sheedy-Ryan came out on top today at Western Australia’s Ironman 70.3 Busselton.
Appleton swam a 24:30, biked a 2:02:43 and ran a 1:14:36 to claim the victory in 3:44:28. New Zealand’s Terenzo Bozzone finished just over a minute later, with South Africa’s James Cunnama turning in the fastest run split of the day (1:11:07) to round out the top three.
Sheedy-Ryan’s race consisted of a 26:32 swim, a 2:25:37 bike and a 1:21:10 half-marathon, giving her the victory at 4:16:18. Fellow Australian Liz Blatchford earned the runner-up spot at 4:18:40, with Katey Gibb (AUS) crossing in third at 4:19:18.
