Curious to see how top finishers ride the Alcatraz course? The majority of pro athletes don’t share their specific training or racing data on social media, but a few athletes at yesterday’s Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon uploaded parts of their race to Strava for public viewing.
Winner Eric Lagerstrom, who bested Andy Potts in a finish-line sprint, uploaded his bike data, which shows the downhill-lover maxed out at 48.1 mph at some point during the ride, and his power (measured by his Pioneer power meter) was a weighted average of 304 watts.
Third-place men’s pro Kevin Collington posted his bike leg, of which he described: “Basically rode myself back into the race after a sub-par swim. Backed it up with a good run for 3rd!”
On the age group side, the second-place amateur and 9th place overall finisher Yoni Doron-Peters, who races for the dominant men’s team Every Man Jack, uploaded each segment of his entire race.
Although they didn’t post yesterday’s races, second-place female finisher Lauren Goss is also active in uploading her training, as well as last year’s second-place finisher in Kona (and 7th at Alcatraz), Ben Hoffman.
