Al-Sultan, Zelenkova Take Inaugural 70.3 Sri Lanka Titles

Germany’s Faris Al-Sultan and the Czech Republic’s Lucie Zelenkova earned the victories at today’s Ironman 70.3 Sri Lanka race.
Al-Sultan, who is known for his biking prowess, earned the 3:51:39 victory by posting the fastest half-marathon split of the day (1:18:33). New Zealand’s Bryan Rhodes posted the fastest swim and bike splits to earn second. Italy’s Alessandro Degasperi finished third.
Zelenkova turned in a well-rounded effort across the swim, bike and run to win in 4:30:17. Germany’s Katja Rabe finished second, with Australia’s Christie Sym rounding out the podium in third.
