Xterra Guam, which is known for its beautiful course, is set to take place this weekend.

Twelve highly competitive professional triathletes have converged on Guam for what is sure to be the largest and most anticipated Xterra Guam off-road triathlon competition to date.  This year marks the first year the race will officially be a championship level competition – one of only fifteen such triathlons held around the world, in addition to being a signature sporting event sponsored by the Guam Visitor’s Bureau.

The race will begin at 7:00 am and will consist of a 1500 meter ocean swim, 31 kilometer mountain bike, and 8.2 kilometer trail run in and around the vibrant trails of Guam.  The infamous race has been previously selected as one of the top five off-road triathlons in the world by Triathlete magazine.

The men’s and women’s pro field consists of Graham Wadsworth (UK), Jacqui Slack (UK), Ben Allen (Australia), Will Kelsay (USA), Cedric Lassonde (UK), Renata Bucher (Sweden), Carina Wasle (Austria), Branden Rakita (Colorado), Olivier Marceau (France), Mieko Carey (Saipan), Takahiro Ogasawara (Japan), Arland Macasieb (Philippines).

The professionals have been conducting various sport related clinics throughout the week, much to the appreciation of the local community.
