Van Lierde, Swallow Win Ironman 70.3 South Africa In Rainy Conditions

Both Belgium’s Frederik Van Lierde and Great Britain’s Jodie Swallow took the leads early on and held them throughout the race in Buffalo City to claim the Ironman 70.3 South Africa titles on Sunday afternoon.

Both Belgium’s Frederik Van Lierde and Great Britain’s Jodie Swallow took the leads early on in Buffalo City to claim the Ironman 70.3 South Africa titles on Sunday afternoon.

Van Lierde combined a 25-minute swim, a 2:18:18 bike and a 1:19:21 half marathon to take the 4:06:30 victory.

Swallow, the reigning Ironman 70.3 World Champion and newest member of TeamTBB, was one of the fastest females on the day in all three disciplines. Her 25:16 swim, 2:40:56 bike and 1:28:55 run combined to give her the edge on second-place finisher Tine Deckers.
