TYR Reveals New Swimskin Series

TYR has announced a new swimskin series just in time for October’s Ironman World Championship event.

The new Torque Swimskin will be worn by several competitors, including three-time reigning champion Chrissie Wellington. Also wearing the new Torque will be American Andy Potts, who is always one of the top athletes out of the water.

The release of the Torque series comes after many companies have had to re-think their swim skin strategy due to rule changes from the World Triathlon Corporation. Those regulations will go into effect on Sept. 1, 2010.

See the press release from TYR below:

TorquePro Ad-1TYR triathletes Chrissie Wellington, Andy Potts and numerous others will wear TYR’s new, Ironman WTC -approved Torque Pro Swimskin at the Ironman World Championships on October 9th, 2010 in Kailua-Kona Hawaii.

Chrissie Wellington is the 3x Ironman World Champion and is coming off a record-setting race at Challenge Roth with a time of 8:19:13 and a win at Ironman 70.3 Timberman where she was first out of the water in the TYR Hurricane Cat 5. Wearing the Female Torque Pro, Wellington hopes to continue her success at the Ironman distance. A win at Kona would mean an un-matched 10-for-10 at ironman distance races for Wellington in her short career.

Andy Potts is the reigning Coeur d’Alene Ironman Champion, and more recently took victories at the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Boulder and Ironman 70.3 Timberman. Potts led out of the water at both races. Potts will be outfitted in the Male Torque Pro Swimskin as he looks to improve upon last year’s top ten finish at Kona.

The Torque Series is part of TYR’s new 2011 Triathlon Collection. With two-layer technology, Torque’s inner core and outer shell coating work together to create the most synergic, fast, and repellent swimskin on the market.
