Legendary coach Brett Sutton is offering age groupers the chance to join him for training in beautiful St. Moritz, Switzerland, starting now through Aug. 31. For 300 CHF (around $335) a week, with the option to stay as long as you want during that time frame, you’ll get individual advice on swim, bike and run from the man who undoubtedly has the most illustrious champion-creating résumé in the sport.
Age groupers can train alongside some of Sutton’s pro athletes in the Swiss Alps (including 2012 gold medalist Nicola Spirig), with access to the brand new, four-level OVAVERVA aquatics center, outdoor track and the many trails and mountain climbs the area has to offer. The cost does not include accommodations, transportation, meals, etc., but the camp’s info page has a variety of hotel options close to the track and pool.
As Sutton indicated on Facebook earlier this week (note: slightly edited for clarity), you can expect the tough-love treatment he’s known for: “It’s not like other camps,” he writes. “You come in and get treated like any other team member—no gushing, no hand holding…It’s not for everyone, as it’s just me being me.” But, he assures, the camp is all about helping you leave a better athlete or with the tools to make you into a better athlete.
The only set workout is an 8 a.m. swim Monday to Saturday, with training flexibility based on every athlete’s needs and race schedule. Sutton also mentioned he will likely offer a similar camp setup when he returns to Cozumel, Mexico, in October and November.
