American Tim O’Donnell has announced that he is now being coached by six-time Ironman world champion Mark Allen. O’Donnell shared the news in a newsletter he sent out on Wednesday morning, saying: “I am very excited to announce a big change in my training for 2014. I’ll now be training under the direction of six-time IM world champion, Mark Allen. Mark is a true legend in our sport and his insight and guidance will be a critical piece of the puzzle for me in Kona.”

O’Donnell was previously coached by Tucson-based Cliff English. O’Donnell finished fifth at the 2013 Ironman World Championship in his third attempt and has been touted by many as being the American with the best chance of winning Kona in the near future. Allen also coaches Canadian pro triathlete Angela Naeth.
