A Houston, Texas dentist has created a triathlon camp that encourages underprivileged kids to engage in a healthy lifestyle. The camp culminates with a USAT-sanctioned triathlon for the kids.

Ashton Bundage, 14, hauls himself out of MacGregor Park’s gemlike pool, grabs his sports journal and wedges himself into one of the picnic tables in the shade.Like the other young triathletes in training, he makes quick work of the journal. He notes that he swam 16 laps, biked six miles and ate a healthful snack, then he slams it shut.

What Ashton doesn’t say is that Achieve Houston, the camp for teens and tweens that will culminate in a race certified and sanctioned by USA Triathlon, is changing his life.
